bismillaah

Maryam terkena sedikit tempias puasa.

bismillaah

Jazakumullaahu khayr.

Harapnya Hajar, Adam dan Maryam dapat menghayati dan seronok dengar Quran recitation during the teraweeh too! The 3 of them sat quietly thru the entire teraweeh. MashaAllaah.

bismillaah

Hajar senyum saja, faham?kurang pasti.

:)

"...and there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah"

bismillaah

alhamdulillaah, semalam kami berkesempatan ke Islamic Center of Irvine.

Alhamdulillaah, the room was very nice and comfortable, not a dingy, cold room..ehe. The sound system was loud and clear, allowing us to follow the recitation clearly despite the sound of excited kids playing and talking.

Hajar did not join the kids group. She just watched the other kids playing and their moms praying, while standing up still and quietly. As for Adam, he also stayed quite, but not still...ehe he quitely joined the play group, grabbed a coloring book and a crayon, and sat beside Ibu coloring the book. Alhamdulillaah the sister and her son who owns the book and crayon happily let Adam played with the book and crayon.

1 juz of qur'an, 20+3 rakaats of teraweeh and witr prayer. Alhamdulillaah!

bismillaah
Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (signs) for guidance and judgment ... al-Qur'an 2:185

surely Hajar, Adam, and Maryam do not understand what Ramadhan means yet. However, they have heard the words 'Ramadhan' and 'puasa,' inshaAllaah that should be good enough at this point. InshaAllaah they will hear lots of Quran recitation both at home and during the teraweeh prayer at the masajid we will be visiting throughout the month. Last night, abah attended the teraweeh prayer at Masjid Omar near USC, but we didnt joined abah since kids are not allowed in the masjid during prayer. Alhamdulillaah, not all masaajid have the same policy. Islamic center of Southern California on Vermont even offers free childcare between maghrib until after teraweeh, mashaAllaah. A famous Quran reciter, Sh. Mishary is the visiting imam at Islamic center of Irvine, and inshaAllaah tonight we will be heading there :)

bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, Maryam is in her 3++ weeks, still adjusting to her 'schedule,' so do Ibu :)..have to follow Maryam's.
Hajar loves playing pretend, singing, and observing! She silently memorizes the zikr that ibu often recites when soothing Maryam, and Hajar will recite the zikr to Maryam whenever Maryam cries.
Adam is at the peak of his curiosity and exploring stage. He loves climbing up to the highest place he could, grabbing anything and experimenting with the items. These past few days, he poured a bottle of chocolate syrup on the flour, a jar of water in the kitchen, and a can of iced tea mix on the carpet. Uhuhu....mashaAllaah its very interesting to watch the kids learn and grow.

abah is busy with his projectS..Alhamdulillaah...coaching, fundraising for alFruqan(well, securing slots during ramadhan for a rep from alFurqan at as many masaajid as possible around the LA county actually), meeting with people, helping some of them, etc etc...sometimes, ibu & the kiddos joined abah during his trips to the nearby areas, but most of the time we just stay at home :)

Bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, it has been 2 weeks since we welcomed Maryam to the family. A friend asked for her birth story, so here it is inshaAllaah.

The birth story is very short because Allaah have made the entire process easy, Alhamdulillaah.

Ibu did not remember when the contraction started since the first ones were very light and just like the regular contractions around the late stages of pregnancy. However, after Zuhr ibu noticed the contractions became regular, but they were like once in every hour. Ibu just ignored them since the EDD was still a week away.

After Asr, the contractions became stronger and closer. Ibu did not tell abah right away nor started to time the contractions, but packing things around the house instead ;). Around 600pm, ibu was pretty sure that labor was just around the corner, told abah about it, and searched the web for infor about 'when to go to the hospital' (ngeh :) ) to make sure it was the right time to go to the hospital (didn't want to wait for long in the hospital..lol). Around 7pm, we got the kids ready and off we hit the road (Alhamdulillaah, earlier that day abah's friend lent his car to us. Muslims friends in LA are very great, mashaAllaah)

Alhamdulillaah, it was saturday and the traffic through the downtown LA was smooth. At 730pm we arrived at the hospital. We went to the 8th floor-maternity section, and registered at 737pm. ibu got into the check-up room and was already at 8cm, Alhamdulillaah. Ibu( and the nurse and the doc) were quite surprised myself, and thankful to Allaah of course! Just minutes earlier ibu were still walking from the parking lot and pushing Adam's stroller into the hospital. The nurse quickly transfered ibu to the labor room. Preparation was done quickly, the doctor broke ibu's water, they hooked me up to the monitor, put an IV(hurt so bad), and at 820pm Maryam came into the world, Alhamdulillaah.

During labor, abah, hajar, and Adam had to wait in the waiting room since kids were not allowed into the labor room. ALhamdulillaah they didnt have to wait for long for 'adik' :). After the nurse cleansed Maryam and clean up the room, my LOs were called into the now-clean-and-neat labor room to meet the new member of the family. Abah, hajar, and adam hang around until around 1030-1100pm before they left..only ibu & maryam stayed :(

Ibu & Maryam were in the hospital for two days(for normal VD) ALhamdulillaah everything was great and everyone was happy and healthy.

bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, Hajar and Adam are sleeping soundly right now after another whole day of learning and exploring the world around them. Abah is not around for about 1 week because abah is travelling to Chicago and Michigan doing some of the things he loves. Hajar will say, 'Abah pegi kereje' whenever ibu asked her where is abah.

Today they got to go outside and played with an old stroller and bubbles at the backyard. They loved watching airplanes passing by on the sky. LAX is just 45 minutes away, and we could see/hear flights passing by up above quite clearly. Alhamdulillaah a'la kulli haal, LA's airway is very busy with commercial airplanes, and added with lots of helicopters and private jets. They make lots of noise too, but the kids were so excited with the sounds.

Bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, Hajar and Adam went to Islamic Institute of Orange County!!! where Sheikh Muhammad ibn Faqih serves as the imaam. Abah went to the lecture, Hajar and Adam went to the nursery =)

MashaAllaah, the masjid is very beautiful, but the community is even more beautiful. Lots of people, friendly faces, and we've met a few Malaysians( we've met in an alMaghrib class and several Malaysian events before)

Hajar and Adam were very happy to meet many friends of their ages. They've made friends and got into the playing groups pretty fast, mashaAllaah. Ibu was quite impressed at the progress since at first, ibu was worrying they couldnt make friends easily due to staying at home exclusively =).

Alhamdulillaah, the decision to brave through Los Angeles' super busy freeways on a Friday night really well worth it.

Oh, and these are pictures from our trip to Islamic Center of SoCal, near downtown LA last week.(no pics from the IIOC trip yet)

bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah. Tapi, matahari terik dan cuaca agak panas berbanding biasa.

Alhamdulillaah, sekarang Hajar dalam proses potty training =), Adam belum reti lagi tapi kekadang dia pun nak tiru kakak.

Los Angeles sudah mula terasa bahang musim panas....

bismillaah

2 weeks without abah with us, Hajar would ask 'mana abah?' everyday. I am sure Adam was wondering the same thing, too but didnt know how to ask :).

MashaAllaah, It was very cute to see them 'talked' with abah on the phone. They were holding the phone correctly while sharing their stories with abah. Adam would do his baby talks, and we were trying hard to figure out what he was saying. They would pass the phone to ibu once they were done and tired of talking :)

Ibu took them for walks a few times, and during the sunny days, but when Ibu didnt feel like walking away from home, we just spent few minutes outside. Hajar and Adam love running around, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, and picking up small, wild flowers!

Alhamdulillaah, 2 weeks went by very quickly. Abah has completed his jaulah murabbi for this round. InshaAllaah more to come, and hopefully Hajar and Adam will learn to appreciate this experience.

Alhamdulillaah a'la kulli haal, hajar n adam kena cucuk vaksin lagi. Nak buat selected vaccination tak habis study lagi pros dan cons nya. jadi, ikut arahan state of california saja. sekarang hajar dan adam bawah cdhp, child development & health program(klu x silap). Dua-duanya 'very loud', bak kata para nurses dan doctors.

bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, dah dua minggu ni(hari Ahad) Hajar dan Adam dapat join Sunday School(Nursery) di Islamic Center of Southern California kat Vermont Avenue & 4th street. Minggu first tu naik zipcar, tp yg baru-baru ni kitorang try naik metro, bas panjang dan besar, kadang-kadang nampak macam lrt train.

Banyak perancangan yang diorang buat, May Allaah facilitate it, Allaahumma ameen.

bismillaah

bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, last week ibu has finished with the exams and we went to the hospital to get Adam's blood test and chest x-ray done. Adam got positive TB skin test earlier(which is normal for Asian/Malaysian babies since they've got BCG after birth), some people in the hospital told abah that Adam should not get the skin test because it will for sure be positive. The peds should just refer us to the x-ray instead. Btw, we've refused the test on Hajar, so she didnt have to go through the routine..only Adam(poor Adam). MashaAllah, that day was a rainy day, and the street was a very busy, big one way street with limited parking. The ones that were available had broken meter. so Hajar and ibu just sat and waited in the car for abah and Adam. It was a very long wait. Abah was tired, but abah told ibu that Adam was very happy playing around with things around him in the hospital, but Adam got a bandage on his arm where his blood was drawn into a 'big' vial.

As soon as Adam got into his seat, he grabbed a cookie and his blankie(tuala busuk), and soon fell asleep. Apparently he was very tired too.

After that, we went to masjid Umar and Hajar was very eager pointing at the Masjid and telling everyone that it was 'tempat se-ma-yang'. MashaAllah, Hajar was very happy to get into the masjid.

As a reward for everybody =), we went to Toko Rame, an Indonesian restaurant, afterwards. This Toko Rame is very special because not only it serves only HALAL foods(no wines whatsoever), it only takes cash!(no credit card = no riba'). The owner is also a practicing muslim, wears proper hijab etc. At one time during ramadhan, we even saw the waiter reciting Qur'an while waiting for customers. Earlier, we've googled for a Malaysian restaurant in the area which also serves Halal foods. Fortunately, Abah took the time to browse through their menus and found variety of wines and alcohol offered at the very end of the list. So, we've decided to go to Toko Rame, simple and mashaAllaah, offers variety of delicious Indonesian cuisines.

Both Hajar and Adam went to sleep earlier tonight. They might got tired of playing all day round, in and out the warm, cozy bedroom and the cold, freezing kitchen. They had just finished siblings fight before going to bed =). Adam 'accidentally' dropped the sipper cup on kakak's face and hit and hurt Hajar's lips. Both babies cried and eventually went to sleep.

InshaAllaah, we are planning to join the Muktamar in Texas and will start the journey on the day after tomorrow. Please make dua that Allaah make it easy on us with safe journey and return.

bismillaah

Adam lambat sikit nak kenal bilik suntikan tu. Bila seluar kena londeh, baru dia start menangis. Tapi, sebaik jer nurse habis cucuk, Adam okay balik. Cumanya, by that time, Adam dah mula mengantuk.

it's this time of the year...los angeles menjadi sejuk

Alhamdulillaah a'la kulli haal, rasa sangat sejuk hari ini.

Allaah tarik nikmat? diberikan ujian? menduga ketabahan? Hanya Allaah yang tahu.

when everyday is an explore race day ...

you will see toys and books and boxes and bottles and other things scattered all over the floor
just minutes after you put all in their respective places

kids climbing on every possible places: chairs, bed, desks, boxes
kids 'writing' on papers and walls
kids tearing papers from books and magazines

you will hear every cabinets door being opened and shut
and babies crying whenever they are told to stop doing it

they just love to explore
to discover and to learn every possible new things
sometimes they dont event want to sleep
for playing and learning are so much more interesting

and when they do fall asleep
the room feels so quiet
obviously missing the kids to start their exploration again...

flu shots, balloons, and a football

Alhamdulillaah last wednesday Hajar and Adam got to 'jalan-jalan' to the campus. Ibu n Abah went to get the free flu shots during the "Boo the Flu" campaign. The weather was nice and the crowd was moderate. No long lines and long waits.

Fortunately, there were several events going on at the same time. There were booths of free foods and goodies, and also the marching band perfomance for the homecoming promotion(it was almost over by the time we arrived, so Hajar and Adam didnt have to hear all the loud noises).

A very nice student gave Adam his mini football and Adam grabbed the ball right away! So cute, mashaAllaah. Hajar got lots of balloons with the Trojan's colors - yellow(goldish?) and red- that Abah took from the stage after the homecoming intro-mini-perfomance was over. Another father also took a group of balloons for his baby. So there we went with a double stroller with colorful big balloons attached. It sure was a head-turning!

After that, we went to the library to borrow some books. Hajar and Adam got the chance to get off the stroller and walked and played around a bench outside of the library. They laughed and played happily. Then, we walked home and made a stop at Taco Bell(for the first time :P).

Alhamdulillaah, Hajar and Adam were happy to have a wonderful day outside and got some balloons and foods and drinks and toy.

Bismillaah

Alhamdulillaah, sekarang dah Syawal.

Adam dah pandai berjalan, tak merangkak dah walaupun dia jalan tak berapa stabil sangat.

Kalau Malaysia, ada 2 kali jer dos tambahan, kat US sampai 3 kali. Hajar yang sepatutnya dah lengkap imunisasi ikut jadual Malaysia, kena lagi cucuk kat sini.

InshaAllaah, doakan Hajar dan Adam tak demam selepas menerima sehingga 4 suntikan setiap seorang.

Hajar dan Adam bermain bersama pagi ni. Hajar gelitik tapak kaki Adam dan Adam ketawa geli. MashaAllaah, comel sangat anak-anak ini bermain bersama.

Hajar and Adam went to the Natural History Museum of the L.A County last Tuesday. Admission is Free for kids under three and Free for all every first Tuesday in the month.

All of the animals are just replicas, but they are made in real 3D sizes with real-like background paintings. MashaAllah, wonderful are the creations of Allaah.

bismillaah

Siapa mampu menggegarkan dunia? Siapa mampu menumbangkan satu negara? dalam satu kelipan mata? SubhanAllaah.

...

Looking through the window, and who do I see? Hajar and Adam waving at me :)

Cuma petang semalam beberapa kali bekalan elektrik terputus dan penggera kebakaran bangunan sebelah tak berhenti berbunyi sehingga bomba datang(dgn cepat sekali). Hajar dan Adam dapat tengok bomba in action(bukan padam api, cuma cek keadaan bangunan saje).

into cloth diapering(CDs) right now, so Ibu kena studi ttg penggunaan CDs. Alhamdulillaah Hajar dan Adam dah try sekali dan berjaya, tiada kebocoran.

InshaAllaah merancang untuk jadikan hobi baru ni $ and environmentally friendly.

MashaAllaah, dua-duanya manis senyumannya, ceria keletahnya

MashaAllaah, dua-duanya penyejuk mata dan membawa bahagia

Alhamdulillaah ... :D

bismillaah

Pengalaman mengajar banyak perkara tentunya ;)

MashaAllaah, Meraikan tetamu, berjalan menjelajah bumi Tuhan, dan bersyukur atas nikmatNya.

MashaAllaah, indahnya persaudaraan.

bismilllah

Kekadang, seketika terbayangkan waktu tua nanti sambil memerhati mereka.

dia ingin mencapai kemahuannya

MashaAllaah...
anak kecilku,
bersungguh-sungguh merayap, merangkak, dan berdiri
cuba mencapai yang lebih dari gapaiannya
cuba berdiri tegak sendiri seperti kakaknya
seolah tiada erti penat buatnya

Allah yang menciptakannya
engkau dan aku
sudah tentu menyiapkan anak kecil itu
dengan segala yang perlu untuk tumbesaran normalnya
Alhamdulillaah

bismillaah

dia menyuapkan biskut ke mulutku
Alhamdulillaah
suatu masa dulu dia hanya boleh terbaring sendirian

dia berlari ke sana ke mari
Alhamdulillaah

Waktu jaga, mucus mengalir laju, di waktu tidur, mucus jadi likat. Tersekat-sekat ibu, abah, Hajar dan Adam bernafas. Sekali-sekala, Hajar dan Adam terbangun merengek dan mengigau. Moga Allah sembuhkan cepat2, ameen.

Alhamdulillaah, sekarang dah satu blok jer jauh dari masjid Umar al-Khattab. Minggu lepas berpindah-randah.Letih masih terasa. Abah pun dekat jer nak gi masjid.

Alhamdulillaah...

bismillaah

we've started the reading lessons for Hajar and Adam. Obviously, Hajar's favourite word was 'nunun' as she would say 'nunun' when she saw the white cards with huge, red letters. she enjoyed watching ibu preparing the cards and would take the finished cards and stack them together.

adam was enjoying the lesson as well. he'd smile happily when ibu showed him the cards.

hopefully,we'll be consistent and Hajar and Adam will enjoy and benefit from the lesson.

bismillaah

I want to thank my mother
because she stayed up in the middle of the countless nights to quench my thirst

I want to thank my mother
because she sacrificed her sleep looking after me when I was sick

I want to thank my mother
because she cleaned me up and changed my soiled diaper and dirty cloth

I want to thank my mother
because she was very patient when feeding me and when I spitted out the food

I want to thank my mother
because she prepared delicious meals for me despite all the cuts and burns from the kitchen

I want to thank my mother
for all the things she has done for me, for my sisters and brothers, and for my family

I want to thank my mother
because she never asked me to thank her and return all her sacrifices

and I know, I will never close to do birr to her
=(

bismillaah

it was interesting to live in a place where it could be very warm in one day and be very cold the next day.

made us realize the greatness of Allah. He made everything easily.

Alhamdulillaah

Adam is now a very fast crawler, he crawled and creeped like a soldier. in no time, he would escape to the kitchen where he'd enjoy the sounds of his hand against the uncarpeted floor.

Hajar is now a very sweet sister. She would help ibu around the house, went into bed earlier and woke up with a broad, beautiful smile the next morning.

alhamdulillaah....its sunday afternoon

mashaAllah, in the last few days ibu's got the chance to see Adam's first forward creeping and clapping. it's eight months now since the day Adam was born. he's grown up quickly.alhamdulillaah.

and Hajar would clap her hands together with Adam, and the scene was so enlightening. alhamdulillaah Hajar has been very nice to Adam, no tantrum or the like. Hajar would even share her bottle whenever Adam grabbed the bottle from her.

oh btw, its very warm here in sunny l.a....i cant imagine how the summer would be...may Allah grant us good health and patience in going through this warm weather...

my baby son was still playing
rolling and creeping around the house
he cried a bit asking for attention
before smiling again when abah came to him

Alhamdulillaah, the book that ibu has been waiting for arrived safely today. Ibu has not read it yet, and inshaAllah will allocate some time for studying the book and putting it into practice.

Btw, the book was recommended by a dear friend of mine, Jazakillaahu khaeer. May Allah make it easy for ibu and abah to teach Hajar and Adam to read. inshaAllah, Hajar will be able to read and enjoy her books by herself as soon as possible.

bismillaah

Yesterday we had a visitor from Malaysia, Akh Fadhil. He is abah's friend and was on transit for couple of hours at L.A. Alhamdulillaah, we rented a car and abah fetched Akh Fadhil from the airport to have dinner at our home.

Alhamdulillaah a'la kulli hal, on their way back home from the LAX airport, the car's headlights were not working. Abah was not aware of it until they were just a few miles from home. Once at home and after performing solat al maghrib, abah called the car's company, Zipcar, and asked them to fix it by 9pm since abah had to drive akh Fadhil back to the airport to catch akh Fadhil's next flight. However, the Zipcar man was not seen by then, and abah asked Bro Wasif, our Pakistani neighbor to borrow his car. Alhamdulillaah, Bro Wasif was very kind and understandable and let abah drove his car.

Alhamdulillaah, one of the most exciting thing was, akh Fadhil also brought a full luggage of goodies for us (our one small luggage that was left in Malaysia when we left for L.A earlier this year). Tokpak passed the luggage to akh Fadhil at the Penang airport.

MashaAllah, the bag was full with Qur'an, abah's books, Hajar's books, our important certs and documents, and new clothes for Hajar and Adam. Hajar was very pleased to get her books back and she took the books with her to bed last night. She also loves the new telekung and mini sejadah that she got. Finally, she has her own sejadah. Jazakumullahu khaeer tokpak, tokmak, cik mimi, and akh Fadhil for preparing the luggage and taking it to L.A.

Alhamdulillah, my children are real blessings
Our lives have been so wonderful since the day they were born
Astaghfirullah, our children are great trusts, our responsibilities
May Allah give us strength to be good parents
Teaching and shaping the children on the path leading to Allah
to achieve great success both in the dunya and the hereafter
Allahumma ameen

Alhamdulillah, we were so thankful to Allah because Adam's fever was over. His temperature went down slightly last night, and it turned back to normal today. Alhamdulillah, it was great seeing Adam being bubbly and active again. However, we've noticed that Adam has been trying to get all the attention, and he would cry very loudly whenever he noticed that Ibu was away from him. Adam cried a lot more today than the days before he got the fever. Maybe he was just loving all the extra care and attention =), Alhamdulillah.

Hajar was like her usual self, active and lively! Today, she picked up the phone when ibu called home from campus. after ibu hang up the line, she put the phone back properly since ibu got thru the line when ibu called for the second time. Ibu was trying to reach abah to check on how Adam was doing, but Hajar picked up the phone again. MashaAllah, it was very cute listening to Hajar speaking so softly at the other end of the line and at times, ibu thought Abah was behind her telling her what to say. However, abah told that he didnt even realize that Hajar was answering the calls. MashaAllah.

Hajar also knows how to turn off the burner everytime she heard the kettle whistling. Each time after she turned off the burner, she would say, "abih da." Alhamdulillah, she was quick and smart.

ALhamdulillah a'la kulli hal, the weather is becoming warmer as the summer is getting closer. Adam is not feeling well right now and his body temperature was quite high yesterday. Alhamdulillah, he's recovering slowly and Hajar was not sick at the same time. May Adam become better and stronger after the fever is over, Ameen.

Alhamdulillah, I feel relieved after reading some guides on parents.com website about babies fever There are helpful guides on how to act when your baby develop
s fever. After all, do not panic and know when to call a pediatrician inshaAllah.

Make a lot of dua that Allah grants us with good health and strong faith, inshaAllah.
